Bulk Meat

“Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you will feed him for a lifetime.”

At The Little Farm That Could (LFC) we selectively breed quality animals that will thrive in the specific conditions of our area. In other words, our cows might not do great in another climate, but they will excel here, in the foothills of California. We often are asked to help local families pick out their first cow, and even build a starter-herd. (We do this with pigs, too). We know these animals and their tendencies very well, as we have generations now of their genetics. We provide our experience, knowledge, observations, guidance, and resources to our customers for the lifetime of their animals, and beyond. We have even “created” calves for a specific purpose for families before. You could say we are in the “Custom Cattle Business”.

LFC has been a small producer of meat for family and friends on "the Divide" for over a decade. The recent and continual problems with the supply chain are greatly affecting everyone, and it can make food acquisition something of a concern now, rather than an afterthought like it once was. There is no better time to buy local, and know your farmer.

The Little Farm That Could does not believe everyone should be a farmer, or even Can, but we believe that everyone should have access to local farm raised foods.

With that in mind...

We would like to extend our services to the community in another way: bulk meat purchases, delivered to your door.

In a time where it is possible to walk into the grocery store only to find that there is no meat on the shelves, the idea of knowing that your meat is mere miles away, can bring a great peace of mind!

We are also affected by the supply chain, as the prices for feed have doubled, due to fuel and water increases. In order to continue to provide you our quality meat, we collect deposits several months before the animals are ready to slaughter. This provides us some predictability in an otherwise unpredictable market, and it helps us keep things streamlined when it is time for pickup/delivery. It also will give you the benefit of time to plan your storage and budget.

We pride ourselves on raising some of the tastiest and healthiest meat you can get! To do this, we must recognize and honor the seasonality and variety of the farm. We are not a grocery store with all-you-can-eat jumbo rib-eyes. Each cow only has so many steaks, but we want to honor the cow and their sacrifice to us, by using every bit of it. For this reason, we do not usually offer “steak only” boxes. We offer a mixed box with a variety of cuts from all parts of the cow, along with some great ideas of how to cook them! Occasionally, we will offer “selected specials” of ground or steaks, if we have a surplus.

How it works:

You select what size box you’d like, (quarters, halves, wholes, monthly mix).

We collect a deposit on your selection, usually around 50% (exception for monthly mix, you pay a subscription).

We update you once your beef is scheduled for processing, and again you as it gets nearer.

We will contact you when it is being packaged, to make arrangements for final payment and delivery.

Depending on your location, your meet will be hand delivered, available for pickup, or shipped Ground Express. We will be in touch with you on this.

A Special note to our friends in Auburn Lake Trails:

Cricket, Founder of LFC, has spent a great deal of time as a substitute mail carrier in the Auburn Lake Trails Community, and has many friends that reside there. In recognition of the fact that HOAs prevent ALT residents from raising livestock for food,

we would like to offer our ALT friends free door-step delivery of any size order! In other words, If you live in ALT, your meat will be hand delivered to your door, by one of your famers! This is your opportunity to tell us what you love, what you don’t, and ask all the questions you can think of! We love talking about our animals and explaining how and why we do what we do.
